Los Angeles FC turned its fortune around as it secured a 1-0 victory against Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The Black & Gold were on the back foot for most of the match with 42-percent possession and only one shot on target. Real Salt Lake created many chances – 14 shots – but were unable to convert on any.

LAFC’s early second half substitutions proved to be the game changer as Jose Cifuentes scored just two minutes after coming on. Carlos Vela’s return from an early-season injury continues to be a welcome boost in their attack.

Following intricate play from the Black & Gold’s attack, Eddie Segura laid off a beautiful pass to substitute Jose Cifuentes, who tucked away his third goal of the season.

On many occasions, LAFC’s defense was cut apart by RSL’s attack, but goalkeeper Tomas Romero bailed them out with three saves.

NEXT GAME

LAFC travels to Texas to take on Austin FC at Q2 Stadium on Wednesday. A victory would mean consecutive wins for the first time this season.
